Y4 Celebrates Peace Day

“Peace begins with a smile – Mother Teresa”

World Peace Day is on the 21st September every year. It is a chance for the whole world to focus on what peace means and to see the phenomenal impact that just one day of peace can bring to millions of lives. It’s very important to have a peaceful environment to live, learn and to be successful. Peace is about caring for one another…..Peace is making sure that no one’s fighting around you, that nobody is frightened or scared…..Peace is protecting each other from scary things. You can protect your friends; make sure everyone in your school and in your home is happy on Peace Day. In the Winchester school, we as teachers make sure that we inculcate the above ideas to students as an everyday practice. To help students understand the importance of ‘peace’, we as a school celebrated the ‘Peace day’.

Students enjoyed the activities done to celebrate the event. They wrote lovely messages and a pledge on the template of a dove bird – which is a symbol of peace. Then they also made marvelous posters on peace day which were displayed in the school. They also sung beautiful songs in their music lesson. The aim to celebrate the peace day was to make students understand the importance of peace and anti-bullying, to develop a generation of young people who can start exploring the link between their own actions and their effects in the wider world.
